My name is Deborah Lane. I grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts. I come from a long line of mariners and artists, many of whom settled in the Gloucester & Rockport area of Cape Ann.

For as long as I can remember I have been surrounded by my father's beautiful photography. Bill Lane began his career in the Air Force, training in aerial photography, darkroom work and photojournalism. When he returned home to the States he took a job at a local newspaper, The Newburyport Daily News. He held the position of Chief Photographer for 21 years, with me following along behind him at football games, political events, parades, storms, blizzards and many, many sailing trips.

As a result of this exposure I have always had an artistic sense of what good photography is. As I have grown older (and wiser) I have begun to really appreciate what my father has taught me. I have taken up photography with a passion and am so excited about being able to have such a creative outlet.

I dedicate this site in honor of my father, Bill Lane, that I may continue his legacy in showing his expansive volumes of photographs with the world and build upon it with mine.
